Claims
We're in business to pay claims
In an industry like ours claims statistics are important. They reassure you that if your clients ever have to make a claim, they’ll be paid. During the last half of 2011 we paid 91% of critical illness claims and 97% of life claims on our Personal and Business Protection Menu products.
We declined 2% of critical illness claims for non-disclosure, which amounted to just 3 people.
Supporting people financially during their time of need is important to us. But what’s most important to them is how they’re treated when they make a claim.
We make it as easy as possible to make a claim because we don’t want your client to have to go through the stress of dealing with unnecessary processes.
We treat people the way we’d like to be treated ourselves. So we give each person their own claims assessor, which means they’ll only have to explain what’s happened to them once. Their claims assessor will keep them up to date with how their claim is going at every stage.
We’ll also give your client a Helping Hand when they claim. Our Helping Hand service gives them support from a qualified healthcare professional who they can talk to at any time. This person can arrange counselling, physiotherapy and oncology nurse support, or a variety of treatments that could help your client or their family deal with the impact of death or illness. Helping Hand comes as part of every menu plan.

Income Cover for Sickness claims make up less than 5% of our overall claims.
We declined just 3 claims in total. One person was receiving full sick pay from their employer, so wasn’t eligible to claim. Another had been injured in an accident and was declined because his injury didn’t meet the definition of incapacity on their plan. The third was declined for non-disclosure.
Obviously with such small numbers, percentages can appear misleading, so we’ve taken the step of fully disclosing the information about our Income Cover for Sickness claims.

This experience has taught us that having a protection plan isn’t just about the money. The money is a massive factor, but it’s not the only thing.
