From 27 October 2008 we enhanced our Life or Critical Illness Cover.
We have made changes to the definitions of 3 of the critical illnesses we cover and also added 2 new illnesses.
So what improvements have we made?
We have made changes to the following definitions:
In addition to the 11 illnesses we cover (this includes Total Permanent Disability) that the ABI don't have standard definitions for we have added two more.
The 2 new illnesses we have added to ensure we continue to offer wide cover at a competitive price are:
These illnesses are in addition to the ABI's standard illnesses.
In addition to the Heart attack definition we have improved 3 more to exceed the standards set by the ABI.
There are 4 illness definitions that exceed the ABI standards:-
We now cover 35 illnesses including Total Permanent Disability (TPD).
No, we made our offering to customers more competitive without increasing the current pricing.
No these changes do not affect any Life or Critical Illness Cover plan that is already in force. These new definitions only apply to new plans quoted for after we have adopted the new definitions, and they aren't reviewable. This means that once a plan is in force, the definitions that apply to that plan won't change.
If a client wants to increase the amount of Life or Critical Illness Cover they have on an existing plan we will issue a new plan for the increase. This is because the new definitions will only apply to the increase. But the new plan will not include another plan charge.
While the new and improved definitions are good news for your clients, we believe that the basis for recommending a provider shouldn't depend on the list of critical illness definitions they offer. It's the overall proposition that delivers best value and the combination of a number of things that makes a great product:
